This video explains all of it, in a fascinating and educational way, by a lady who has taken this cultural favorite into a dimension that you shouldn't miss. I rented it and watched it, then went back to buy it...its a must for Oz movie fans, biblical scholars, and anyone who wants to be in better touch with their hearts and emotions.
